With a modernist aesthetic, Joël Urruty carves contemporary works of art out of wood. Trained as a furniture maker, Joël uses traditional woodworking tools and techniques to create abstracted figurative sculptures and minimalist wall panels. Reducing the subject to simple line, form and shape, he removes all of the unessential information to “capture the true essence of the subject matter.” The elegant works are often finished with a dark stain to allow “light and shadow to play off the subtle shifting facets of the sculptures.”
