With a lifelong passion for research, discovery and exploration, Donald Robertson skillfully uses ancient methods to create contemporary glass sculptures of extraordinary expression. Through lost wax casting and pate de verre – two of the earliest glass techniques, originated in Egypt and Mesopotamia thousands of years ago – this established master of glass brilliantly reveals links between the material and spiritual world through metaphor. Like the techniques he employs, Donald’s diverse range of subject matter is rooted in history, incorporating references to the fossilized remains of prehistoric organisms and artifacts from ancient civilizations.
