Inspired by “sacred spaces” – places and objects that contain, sustain and shelter life – ceramist Susan Margin passionately constructs vessels reminiscent of Native American or Asian baskets. Hundreds of hand-rolled clay coils are beautifully woven together creating a tapestry of lines that contrast smooth and quiet interiors. These contradictory surfaces, dominated by earth tones of orange, reds, browns, blacks and dusty blues, are often punctuated by the glow of metallic patinas creating an overwhelming visual seduction.
