Transcending the round object, Stoney Lamar uses multiple axes to turn his asymmetrical textural, mellifluous wood sculptures. With this technique, "new challenges and possibilities are constantly present, allowing a subtractive process to become an intriguing way of constructing an object." Stoney often incorporates metal into his work, juxtaposing its rigidity with the flexibility of the wood. The rough, rugged looking sculptures betray their graceful lines and the smooth tactility of their surfaces.
